ABOUT

An American, learning Hungary by living in it.

I kept coming back to Hungary. So I stayed. This is where the notes live.

The short version: I tried other places. Switzerland. Brazil. The US. Hungary kept calling. The only way I know to keep understanding a place is to slow down, look closer, and write down what I see.

Magyar Minute is the field journal of that learning. The name isn't literal. These aren't one-minute pieces. It's the spirit of the word: a moment of attention paid to one specific thing. A street corner. A conversation overheard. A misunderstanding I had to ask my way out of. A place I only found because I turned down the wrong street. That's the unit. Each post is one minute's worth of attention, expanded.

Most of these started on TikTok and other platforms. They still live there too. But platforms come and go, and I wanted the record to live somewhere that's mine: the writing, the transcripts, the places I mentioned, the people I learned from. This is that somewhere. If you found me on social and you want the longer version, the longer version is here.

Over time, this will become more than my notes. People who know corners of this country I'll never get to on my own will land here too. Not as a directory pointing somewhere else, but as a publication with the same attention to detail.

Living here. Learning daily. Sharing honestly.
